Packaging / Caring for the Environment

The founders of Mapalus Mokupa care about the environment and we make a conscious effort to keep our manufacturing practices environmentally friendly:

We minimize waste. There is near zero material waste in our production process. All raw materials go into our products.
We reduced our energy usage and subsequently reduced our "carbon footprint". All material used in our soap are from the local area (like vanilla, coconut, glutinous rice, virgin coconut oil) except the essential oil, which is sent from Surabaya. Our bar wrapping material is cling wrap (Indonesian law requires all commercially produced soap to be wrapped in plastic), this has created a considerable reduction in our energy usage, since no energy is used to heat shrink wrap.
Mapalus Mokupa also believes that it is important to be community-minded. Trash and poor families in this developing nation have become a big problem so all of the income goes to the community: child education, sustainable job creation and waste management. We believe that gradually this will make a positive difference here in Mokupa, Manado - North Sulawesi.
